The rivalry of big names in the field of chipsets is beginning to intensify for us, and in 2022 Qualcomm's duel with Mediatek will be very tense. But Samsung is also waiting in the lee, which will have a good ace up its sleeve. Their next chipset (probably called Exynos 2200) will introduce graphics from AMD in the mobile sphere for the first time. And if you move only marginally in the field of desktops or laptops, then you probably don't need to introduce AMD to you. Today, Samsung has finally confirmed the launch date of this news after long delays.

This was done through a teaser video , where Samsung throws catchy slogans like "the end of child's play" or "time to play more seriously in the market." In addition, they also added a specific date, which is January 11, 2022. Which is also the alleged date of the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, so everything will probably come together in one event. In any case, the new Exynos should be available for some variants of the Galaxy S22 series. It is not yet clear which regions will get it exactly, but previous speculations have spoken to Europe, for example. So we'll see.

But the main attraction of the Exynos 2200 will be graphics from AMD. These should be based on the RDNA 2 architecture, the same as the AMD RX6000 series graphics or modified chips in the Playstation 5 or new Xboxes. Hardware support for ray-tracing and very nice performance from the first tests look very tempting on paper. But the question will be whether the rest of the real equipment and performance of the chipset will be at the same level. Exynoses have simply historically had a reputation for worse solutions than comparable competitors always have. But maybe this year it will be different for the first time.
