MediaTek developed the first 3nm Dimensity chip

MediaTek has gained popularity in recent years with its Dimensity line of processors . It not only releases flagship chipsets , but also processors for mid-range phones. MediaTek's flagship processors boldly compete with Qualcomm's premium chipsets. Therefore, it is certainly interesting information that they have completed the development of the Dimensity processor, which is built on TSMC's 3nm production technology.

MEDIATEK PROMISES ENORMOUS PERFORMANCE FOR THE NEW PROCESSOR

Although MediaTek did not announce the exact parameters of the new 3nm processor, it confirmed that serial production will start at the beginning of next year. They will prepare a new chipset for commercial use in the second half of 2024. Of course, it will be the flagship processor from the Dimensity series. In the press release, MediaTek further highlighted the benefits of TSMC's 3nm process, which is significantly better than the 5nm N5 process.

In comparison, the 3nm manufacturing process will provide roughly a 60% increase in logic density, an 18% increase in speed at constant performance, and a 32% reduction in power consumption at the same performance. The new technology has also targeted high-performance computing and mobile applications to increase performance, energy efficiency and yield. MediaTek plans to integrate the new chipset into various devices such as smartphones, tablets and even smart vehicles. At the same time, it will put it at the forefront of chip production, as the competition is only considering adopting the 3nm process.

Joe Chen, president of MediaTek, praised the partnership with TSMC. He also added that this collaboration will allow MediaTek to demonstrate the advanced design of their flagship processors. It will also enable the fulfillment of their goal of offering their global customers quality solutions and improving user experience in the high-end segment of the market. Chen also claims that the new 3nm processor is likely to revolutionize the industry and increase MediaTek's competitiveness.
