So we finally arrived, because the first comparison tests of the new generation of high-end processors are in the world. Both Mediatek Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen1 have ambitions to dominate the market with the best equipped phones next year, so their direct battle is very interesting and important. Of course, this is still just an initial shot, because phones with these pieces are not yet available for normal mortals. Similarly, the comparison focuses only on gross benchmark performance, which is not always entirely meaningful. Because another important element will be consumption and heating.
Historically, Qualcomm has always had a big lead over Mediatek in the high-end category, but it seems to have basically evaporated. Both chipsets are finally based on the same 4 nm lithography and we compare comparable. However, Dimensity 9000 uses 4 nm TSMC technology, while Snapdragon 8 Gen1 relies on Samsung 's 4 nm technology . And the fight is really very balanced.
In the best-known benchmark, the forces are essentially balanced when the overall score offers little difference. The Dimension 9000 has the upper hand in pure processor and memory scores, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 still retains dominance and a solid lead in graphics performance. He still seems to have no competition there.
But another picture is painted by Geekbench 5, where Dimensity 9000 shows its strength in multi-core tests. In it, the new Snapdragon clearly outperforms the steamer and begins to approach the dominant position of apple silicon.
SUMMARY GRAPHIC TESTS
The next portion of the tests confirms the excellent graphics performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen1, but the differences are no longer as abysmal as in the past. The mediatek obviously worked hard on the graphic part of the chip and does not have to be ashamed of the results at all.
Dimensity 9000 then showed massive progress in the field of artificial intelligence, where it completely outclassed the competition. The 692 points scored in AI Benchmark is a real difference compared to 560 points in Snapdragon 8 Gen1. Only about the least visible in normal use, because AI performance is usually almost impossible for users to recognize.
